- Discontinuing medications is only available if the medication has been GIVEN on that day's flowsheet.
- Deleting medications is only available if the medication has NOT BEEN given on that day's flowsheet.
Parameters/monitoring/medications can be deleted at any point off the flowsheet, as long as there are no notes/initials/entries etc. entered in for that item. Once there is an entry for that item, it becomes part of the medical records and can't be deleted, but rather discontinued.
For example, if you prescribe Hydromorphone but then decide against it, it may be deleted as long as a dose hasn't been administered yet. Once there is an indicator on the flowsheet that even a single dose has been given, the medication (e.g. 2 Hydromorphone 12) can be discontinued but not deleted. See pictures below.

A new window will pop up and you'll be proposed to choose the exact time when this parameter should be discontinued:
On the iPad: | On the web: |
Tap Discontinue and the item will be greyed out from the flowsheet:
After an item has been discontinued, it will automatically be deleted from future days if there no entries on the chart (medication was not given).
When deleting a treatment this will delete the item from the current sheet and all future sheets, but not on the previous days.
