If you notice changes in patient weight, and need to update the medication dose rate, please follow the next steps. Re-weigh the patient and update weight value in the Patient Information, so that SmartFlow can start to use the most recent weight to calculate doses.

NOTE: In order to approve any dose change for Anesthetic sheet, if the patient's weight changed, please manually update medications currently on the Anesthetic sheet using your iPad (please find more details HERE).

From the web

1. Open the flowsheet for the required patient > click Edit Patient option on the right side of the flowsheet:

NOTE:  There is no option to change a patient weight from the flowsheet directly, thus it should be updated through the Patient Info page.

2. Update the Weight and click Done to save changes:

3. Then a pop-up window will appear asking for confirmation:

NOTE: The medication dose on the flowsheet will be automatically updated once you click on YES, but you still have the opportunity to discard changes. This is because we don't want the fluctuation in dehydrated patients to be drastically changing the medications, as well as we don't want doses to be changing without the clinician's acknowledgment. If you do not want to change the dosages for the active medications, please choose NO. However note, any new medications added to the flowsheet will reflect the updated weight.

From the iPad

1. Enter the editing mode while in the patient's Flowsheet:

2. Tap in anywhere inside the Patient Information area:

OR

Open the menu (...) and tap on Edit Info:

NOTE:  There is no option to change a patient weight from the flowsheet directly, thus it should be updated through the Patient Info page.

3. Under Quick Info or Patient tab, update the Weight and click Save to apply changes:

ALSO NOTE: Please be aware of changing the patient weight at the time prior the preset time for All Flowsheets to Begin At (you can check this time in the General Settings), as it can cause doses update for the previous flowsheet day. For example, this clinic has all flowsheets set to begin at 7:00 AM:

Changing/updating weight that was done prior to 7:00 AM, and medication doses update was approved by pressing OK in the warning pop-up. In this case, changes will affect the previous flowsheet day, because this is still the time that refers to the previous treatment day.
