If a patient has 14 days worth of flowsheets or more, this can cause Smart Flow to run very slowly, especially if you have more than 1 patient with this issue. It may also cause issues when trying to discharge a patient, due to a large amount of information that would need to be downloaded.

When the Smart Flow application is running slowly, we would recommend you first check to see if there are any patients like this on your whiteboard currently. Also, check and discharge all patients that are not currently in your clinic.

To view how many flowsheets a patient currently has in the patient information area, please, see the screenshot below:

For patients that currently have 14 or more flowsheets but, are still in a hospital we would recommend:

  • Create a template from patients current flowsheet (you can name it with patients first/last name), this will prevent you from having to re-enter medications and treatments required. Click here to see how to add a template.
  • Discharge the patient.
  • Create a new patient, choosing the patient's template you have saved.

This little advice can prevent you from having issues with discharging patients and will help you to improve Smart Flow application speeds.

Once the patient is no longer in your hospital and has been discharged, it is up to you if you would like to keep the template for future use, perhaps this is a boarding patient that comes to stay frequently. If you would like to delete the template, you can do so anytime, to see how to do that, please, click here.
