If you do not wish to bill for an item that is checked off on the Flowsheet (e.g. if you are using the patient's own medication), please follow the below steps.

NOTE: If you want to bill for medication once it's executed on the Flowsheet, please follow the steps described HERE instead.

When adding eye medications or ointments into parameters, we recommend adding the item as follows:

Go into Settings > Parameters and Add New Parameter

  • Fill in the medication name (please put the concentration first)

  • Choose Medication from the drop-down menu named Section

  • Enter the Concentration as 1 inch/inch, 1 cm/cm or 1 drop/drop as required

  • Make sure, you then set the billing toggle to OFF (or set events to NO if using integrated PIMS/EMR). If you are using the patient's own medication, to avoid billing twice, we need to be sure the billing option is turned OFF for this particular parameter.

  • Press Save once completed:

OR

From now, the ointment or eye drop can be added to the patient's Flowsheet:

  • Make sure the concentration is set up as described above (1 inch/inch, 1 drop/drop, etc.)

  • Enter the desired route of administration

  • Making note of what concentration you entered in the steps above, enter the dosage as required (e.g. 1 drop per eye). Remember, Smart Flow will learn from you if the part of the body you require is not listed, then just type it in the box and it will be saved for next time.

  • Choose how you want it to appear on your Flowsheet,

  • Make sure you set the billing to OFF:

OR

So that on the Flowsheet they appear as

NOTE: According to how Concentration settings work, SmartFlow usually sends the second unit of measurement to your PIMS/EMR. For example, let take Insulin which is mapped accordingly and should be sent to ezyVet. You'd like it to be measured by Units but when you look at your ezyVet settings you see ml:

To have Units be sent to ezyVet instead of ml, we recommend reorder the units of measurements for the Concentration in the Insulin parameter settings so that the desired unit is second:
